Back to the Roots

Crop top - Masaba Gupta | Pleated Trousers - Zara | Midi Ring - Valliyan by Nitya Arora | Bag - Steve Madden | Shoes - Zara | Sunglasses - Marc Jacobs | Watch - Michael Kors | Lipstick - MAC Ruby Woo | Nails - Maybelline Color Show Keep up the flame

Crop tops have seen a major revival. These cute crop tops I don't think  are going out of trend any sooner. Everyone seems to be too comfortable with crop tops.Crop tops in my opinion when styled correctly can be versatile and flattering.I have already styled a cute crop top with a maxi skirt here and also a cropped shirt here. This time I decided to pair it with high rise pleated trousers. To make the look stylish and chic I have added statement accessories and heels. To turn this look into a casual one, one could go sans any heavy jewellery and add flat sandals and a tote.

Sometimes while putting an outfit together selecting a neutral item and later working bold pieces around it is an apt way. When you have a nice bold print, mixing it with a neutral piece helps in maintaining subtleness in the outfit.

I didn't settle for the regular conventional solid, floral or logo crop tops, something bold which would make a statement was what I was looking for.Seldom you come across pieces with Indian ethnic traits which remind you of your roots and yet can be carried so effortlessly in a western look. The striking modern take on these ethnic symbols grabbed my attention. The rich fabric and the vibrant colour make it more appealing. With such crop tops you can go both traditional or western.

You guys already know what a midi rings buff I am.This beautiful statement midi ring is the newest addition to my midi ring stash.

Monsoon Brights

Top,Pants - Zara | Bag - Dorothy Perkins from Jabong.com | Midi Rings - Aldo | Pearl Bracelet - Zara | On my nails - Maybelline Feisty Fuschia

I have this love hate relationship with rains and this year we have been waiting for monsoons with much anticipation.I do love the sweet smell of earth when the first showers hit the ground and also heavy rains but only when I am sitting at home sipping some green tea.Every time it rains I just dread getting out of the house. In monsoons for me there is no such day as a good hair day.It is quite a dilemma on how to arrive anywhere looking presentable.

During monsoons, it is better to be cautious about what outfit, make up and accessories you choose. The emphasis should be more on no fuss comfortable clothing.Adding a dose of rich vibrant colours to otherwise dull day is the way to go.Its best to wear easily drying light fabrics in monsoon. In monsoon again its difficult to wear denims and thats why I picked these light fabric blue pants for this post. Its bright to counter a dull day and the fabric is light and dries easily.Blue and black&white is a classic combination you can never go wrong with it.Monsoons bring dark gloomy days, so to cheer up your mood bring out those bold polka dots, aztec, geometric prints. Now coming to these black heels I have worn these because the look required it otherwise we cannot wear anything other than monsoon friendly footwear.

And as every year I do I am reminding myself not to stay gloomy like the weather but welcome the beautiful rains with a happy and cheerful face and also hopefully enjoy them till they last.
Keep the above tips in mind dont let the rains be a dampener and hit the monsoons in style.

Colourburst

Shirt - ZARA | Skirt - Mango | Shoes - ZARA | Watch - GUESS | Rings - Forever New | Sunglasses - Dior | Clutch - Inc 5

The weather has been very hot since last few weeks and as you have seen in my previous outfit posts I have been mostly wearing light and comfortable summer appropriate clothing.I got this pleated skirt last year and had totally forgotten about this skirt until a Trendy Tuesday post about Pleats that I did on the blog's Facebook page reminded me of it.
Since pleats are back in trend what better time then now.Although this pleated skirt reminds of summer it works in almost any setting.Pleated skirts look chic in any length and colour. This type of skirt will make you look even more feminine. Pleated skirts, especially those made from soft fabrics are among the most stylish skirts for summer.
I find the colour of the skirt very lively, it has just the right amount of brightness.I have paired this beautiful skirt with a scarf print button up.
Such solid coloured pleated skirts can be easily paired with white/black tops or button ups and a pair of high heels to complete the look.To compensate for the brightness of the skirt I have added nude heels. The glaring sun gives you an excuse to invest in good protective sunglasses and so have I in these beautiful Diorline sunglasses.

How to wear NEON

Bright, vivid, reflective, eyecatching colors Hot pink,Tangerine, citron yellow and lime green shades seem to be everywhere this season. If you are color shy this trend could be very intimidating hence the tagline Never Ever Overdo Neon.

There are ample ways to incorporate neon in your outfit

Accessorises
The most easiest way to sport neon is through accessories.Neon jewellery, hair accessories, sunglasses, bags, belts, shoes are easy and subtle ways to incorporate neon in your outfits.Start with small neon earings or series of bangles with that watch.

Neutrals
Pairing neon with neutrals you can never go wrong.Mixing with neutrals will tone down the outfit. This mix of colors will help each other as the neutral color will prevent you from going over the top and the neon item will spice up an otherwise boring outfit.

Check if the outfit fits you well. Since neon colors are extremely bold and eye-catching, they tend to make anyone look larger than they are. If you have a pear figure, use the neon colors for your top part. For apple shaped bodies feel free to use neon bottoms. If you have an ideal body shape with proper curves and slim legs, then wear neon on whichever zone you like.

A small chart to guide you on how to pair neon

Makeup
A supercharged pink lip is a great way to go neon in makeup.Pair it with a touch of black eyeliner and very light foundation.

A subtle streak of neon liner paired with a clean face can add a fun pop of color to your look. Try applying a fine line of electric blue, green or purple liner in a cat-eye style.

A neon manicure will go very well with a neutral outfit.bright corals,Oranges and Pinks are very wearable.
